VAYERÁ.

Abraham, in a spiritual sense, embodies the quality of chesed (kindness), which refers not only to good deeds toward others but also to the ability to accept HaKadosh Baruch Hu as the absolute truth and to do His will as expressed in the Torah and mitzvot. Through the trait of hospitality, Abraham brought thousands of people closer to HaShem. The three angels who visited Abraham after the Brit Milah (circumcision) served a dual purpose: to visit the sick (the origin of the mitzvah of "bikur cholim") and to give Abraham the opportunity to practice his hospitality. Abraham was subjectedby HaKadosh Baruch Hu to ten tests, but the most difficult of all was that of “Akeidat Yitzchak,” offering his son as a sacrifice at HaShem’s request… Yitzchak was the first person circumcised on the eight day after birth, contrary to what is often claimed that Yitzchak was thirty seven years old when he was taken by his father Abraham to be sacrificed, which implies Yitzchak’s consent and acceptance of the command of HaKadosh Baruch Hu as well. The sacrifice of Yitzchak would be carried out on Mount Moriah, the same place where years later the Beit Ha'Mikdash would be built.
