Síntesis del Episodio
The Parashá Toledot, or Genealogy Book, Bereshit 25:19 to 28:9.
Isaac prayed to the Lord, and his wife, who could not have children, prayed with him. The Lord answered their prayers, and Rebekah became pregnant. Through the prayers of Isaac and Rebekah, the Torah teaches the significance and guidelines of worship.
There are a few key concepts to take away from this: "The prayers of the needy are not the same as those who are not in need," "If you pray for your friend, HaShem will answer you first for their needs," "Wherever you pray to Me, I will come and answer you," "The prayers of righteous men and women of good character are not the same as those of men and women of questionable character." If we study the prayers of our ancestors, we can understand the concepts of Halacha. This means that every person must turn to the Almighty through Tefilot to ask for what they need and never give up, no matter how difficult the situation is.
King Hizkiyahu had a word with the prophet Yeshayahu when the latter was sent by HaShem to announce his imminent death. King Hizkiyahu was a man who feared HaShem and was a great Torah scholar. He asked the prophet why this ruling had been made. The prophet replied that it was because he had not married and had not desired to have offspring. The King told him that he'd decided not to marry so as not to have children since he'd been told in a vision that his offspring wouldn't follow the ways of the Torah. The prophet was critical of this decision. "Whom is HaShem asking you to inquire about?" You should have done what you were supposed to, and it's none of your business what HaShem decides." After he realized his mistake, he asked to marry the prophet's daughter. The prophet refused, saying that HaShem can't repent. The ruler asked him to finish his message and leave. He had already realized that he was wrong. He had been taught in his ancestors' house not to despair when misfortune strikes.
