Kennedy compiled an anthology of Sarasate's compositions.  Sarasate, virtuoso violinists of the 19th Century  wrote many pieces for violin with piano or orchestra, which were popular with players as well as audiences in his day as they embodied a way of playing that he understood better than anybody else.  Also, Sarasate was one of the few 19th-century virtuosos who lived into the gramophone era, and his 1904 recordings offer tantalizing evidence of his performance prowess.
