Dr. Maria Hess dedicated her life to teaching the next generation of therapists during her years at Sonoma State University.  A few years before her retirement from the university, Dr. Hess and two of her former students open up Humanidad Therapy & Education Services that provides culturally appropriate services to the Latinx community of Sonoma County. Dr. Hess is known for stating that "Trauma is the gift that keeps on giving." That is, unless we heal, we are likely to pass our trauma to our children. With these humble words I honor a professor, mentor, colleague and friend. You can rest now, as your students will continue on the legacy that you started.
